What is included
Our one-day cycling tour begins with a ride through a narrow rocky canyon, on an asphalt path around the Šárka stream. We pass by the old-time Čertův mlýn and continue to municipality of Horoměřice, dominated by a one-floor castle with the Chapel of St. Anne.
We change direction here and turn to the valley of the Únětice stream, along which we continue to the municipality of Únětice, through to the microbrewery of the same name, where we stop for a bit of refreshment. Mighty ruins of Okoř Castle are just a few more easy kilometres away from here. Lunch at a local restaurant near castle ruins awaits us after the tour. We liven up the way back over the rolling stretches of land with a stop in the city district of Prague 6 - Přední Kopanina, where a beautiful Romanesque church with the rotunda of St. Mary Magdalene can be found. We finish the 40 km long circuit in the late afternoon, in the same place from which we set off.
8:00-11:00 meeting with the guide at the hotel, transfer by public transport to the start of the tour (15 min)
We're on the outskirts of the Šárka valley, a natural wonder on the territory of Prague, just a few minutes from the centre. After a short introductory briefing and handing over of the bicycles, we set off into the bowels of the rocky canyon and follow the cycle lane that winds along the bottom of the valley due East to Chateau Jenerálka. We travel with the flow of the stream and pass a natural lido until the mighty grey-black rock formations on both sides of the lane begin to appear. After a little less than 6 km of scenic cycling, we ascend on the northern edge of the valley and set off to the municipality of Horoměřice 2 km away. Here we pass by a small, desolate chateau and follow the green sign which leads us to the valley of the Únětice stream. Before we ride around the fishpond, we have the possibility to leave our bikes for a while and climb to the lookout nearby, from which you can see all the way to Prague Castle.
11:00-17:00 municipality of Unětice, a visit to the local brewery, OKOŘ castle, lunch, the way back
The new owners renewed beer production in this almost 500 year old brewery in 2012. In the cosy restaurant, you can order small snacks such as beer crackling griddle cakes with sauerkraut or delectable spicy beer cheese to go with the excellent beer. We continue along the blue sign for another 8 km, almost all the way to the castle. We pass through several smaller villages before going down into the little valley of the Zákolanský stream, we go under a monumental viaduct, pass the reconstructed Nový Mlýn and the local chalet settlement. After a short time, we are welcomed by the torso of the castle tower surrounded by ruined walls. After roughly half an hour touring the remnants of the gothic fortifications, we sit on our bikes and move on to the lovely garden of the Okoř family hotel and restaurant. After lunch we have the last 15 km to go, along the small local roads with a minimum of traffic. We ride over slightly rolling terrain, we pass through several smaller municipalities and after roughly an hour, we finish the 40 km long circuit in the place from where we set off in the morning.
