Itinerary
What is included

Our trip begins in the picturesque mountain resort of Pec pod Sněžkou, where we’ll be staying in a cosy mountain hotel for the next few days. We’ll be spending the afternoon on a tour of the small town and a visit to the former copper mines. Nordic walking, a nice 10 km long trek, offers a possible alternative. The Sněžka summit (1603 m) and a whole day of hiking await us the next day. We travel by electro bike to the most beautiful of Krkonoše views. At the end of the trip, we take a tour of the foothill town of Trutnov, which our popular president Václav Havel often visited.

1. day
Pick-up at hotel/at the airport/, transfer to Pec pod Sněžkou, check-in to Hotel Hořec, afternoon programme, supper

Pec pod Sněžkou lies 750 m. It was founded at the location of a miner’s settlement at the end of the 16th century. Thanks to forest harvesting, the settlers established meadow enclaves here, they built dwellings and bred cattle. Later, in the second half of last century, chalets, pensions and hotels emerged – a new livelihood for the inhabitants after the slump of ore extraction. Pec lies at the heart of Krkonoše, surrounded by the highest peaks of Krkonoše. The romantic Úpa rivulet flows through it. The town is an ideal base for an active holiday and relaxation.
In July and August, we spend an afternoon viewing the former Kovárna in Obří důl mine, where copper was mined until 1959. The tour takes us 50 m below the mountain surface, we learn about medieval and modern extraction methods, followed by lunch at Bouda pod Sněžkou.
In other months, we learn correct Nordic walking techniques on a 10 km long circuit around the town. D
2. day
Whole-day hiking on the Krkonoše ridges, cableway to Sněžka, the largest mountain chalet in Krkonoše – Luční bouda, lunch and descent back to Pec pod Sněžkou (total 14.5 km/alt. 12.5 km)

The new cabin cableway was opened in 2012. Riding in two stretches, we overcome almost 700 altitudinal metres, and in doing so we’ll be among the first visitors to reach the summit of Sněžka (the name originates from the 19th century and means “covered by snow”). We’ll take a look at the 14 m high rotunda – the Chapel of St. Laurence and have a wonderful cup of coffee. The captivating Krkonoše panorama can be viewed from the freely accessible sightseeing terrace.
After an hour’s break, we descend from the Sněžka summit over the Úpa moorland to Luční bouda (1410 m), the oldest and biggest mountain chalet in Krkonoše. We have lunch in the highest-situated hotel and brewery in Central Europe! Fortified with delicious home-cooked food, we slowly go up Liščí Hora 1363 m, from where there is what’s probably the most captivating view of Sněžka and Studničná hora. Alternatively, we can choose the way by the hillside, via the Severka hut, where you can try “bear’s milk” – a drink made from milk, flavoured with honey and laced with rum. B L  D

3. day
Over the Krkonoše ridges by electro bike, a visit to an eco-farm, wellness
In the morning we set off by electro bike to the Výrovka chalet and surpass the first 590 altitudinal metres. By the hillside of Liščí hora, via several wonderful viewpoints and about another 11 kilometres, we arrive at the Lesní bouda eco-farm, where sheep wool is processed, among others. A blue sign from Kolínská bouda will take us around cross-country skier tracks and trails and back to Pec pod Sněžkou. B L D
4. day
Morning transfer to Trutnov, a guided tour of the historical part of the town, afternoon free time or an optional programme, delicious dinner at local family, back ride to the pension

Trutnov is a picturesque little town in the Krkonoše foothills. Besides the church, town hall and the former castle, the heart of the town is made up of about 150 burgher houses arranged in blocks. The well-preserved buildings are lined along the perimeter of the main square by archways with interesting little shops.
