What is included

When planning a one-day cycle trip to the mountains, we thought about what part of the Krkonoše should be the one of choice. The Krkonoše, with steep rises and sharp downhill runs aren’t exactly the most suitable mountains for relaxation tourism, but in the end we found just the right place: the Western Krkonoše, loosely connecting to the Jizera Mountains with a typical plateau and a slightly wavy terrain. This part of Krkonoše National Park has excellent terrains for mountain cycling and well-maintained cross-country ski tracks in the winter. In the sadlle of our bike we visit tiny mountain settlements, but also taste some of the typical polish delicacies.

Early pick-up at hotel/at the airport/, transfer to Jakuszyce, small village near Harrachov ski resort few km behind the czech-polish border.
We surpass most of the incline comfortably seated in a car. In small village Jakuszyce, we overtake our bikes and set off. Riding on mildly rising trails we stop in deserted village Orle for the lunch. Soon we cross the border – on a gangplank newly built over the Jizera River – and get to the Jizera settlement: the highest-situated municipality in the Jizera Mountains at 860 m. As a sapphire and emerald deposit, it became famous throughout Europe in the 16th century. A glassworks also operated there until 1911. The Jizerka River valley is also a so-called darkness reserve.
After a well-deserved afternoon coffee break, we head along the Jizera River valley on gently winding forest path to Harrachov.
Dinner will be served in the microbrewery restaurant on premises of the oldest private glassfactory in Bohemia.
